New Delhi, August 18, 2026; Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the use of the term “dimagi Naxal”, arguing that questioning the government or raising concerns about the system should not be equated with such a label.
Kejriwal made the remarks while targeting the Prime Minister and said he considered himself a patriot despite being described in those terms. He maintained that raising questions about governance and standing up for one’s beliefs should not be viewed as anti-national.
Drawing a historical comparison, the AAP leader invoked freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and social reformer Dr B.R. Ambedkar. He claimed that if the two leaders were alive today, they too could have faced similar criticism for challenging prevailing systems and speaking against injustice.
Kejriwal’s comments come amid a wider political debate over the terminology being used by political leaders to describe opponents and critics.
The former Delhi Chief Minister said his political position was rooted in patriotism and reiterated that he was willing to be identified as a “dimagi naxal” if questioning the system was considered grounds for such a description.
