Lucknow, May 23, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday reviewed the functioning of the state’s Labour and Employment Department and emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the lives of workers, youth and economically weaker sections.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that workers are not merely a part of the production process but represent one of the strongest pillars of the state’s economy and development. He said the government is focused on ensuring dignified living conditions, quality education, safe workplaces and better employment opportunities for all sections of society.

Adityanath directed officials to expand the Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh with revised provisions. He stressed that no child should be deprived of education due to financial hardships and called for special campaigns in child labour-affected areas to bring children back into the education system. He also instructed authorities to strengthen rehabilitation measures and prepare skill development plans for such children with support from the private sector.
The Chief Minister described the Sevamitra system as an innovative model that combines employment generation with public service delivery. He said technology-driven platforms create fresh opportunities for skilled workers and young professionals and should be further enhanced to increase their effectiveness and public utility.

Encouraging the use of the Sevamitra model in government departments wherever required, Adityanath said the initiative would improve transparency while generating employment opportunities at the local level.
Reviewing welfare measures for construction workers, he directed officials to systematically develop proposed labour facilitation centres in all industrial cities. He said these centres should function not only as gathering points for workers but also as comprehensive support and assistance hubs providing essential services and guidance.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Employment Department to transform itself into a modern and digitally driven employment platform capable of meeting future workforce requirements. He called for strengthening AI-powered services, digital job-matching systems and online counselling facilities on the Employment Sangam portal.
Reiterating that employment generation remains one of the government’s top priorities, Adityanath said efforts should be made to connect the state’s youth with job opportunities at local, national and international levels.
