Gautam Buddh Nagar: Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin visited Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, on Tuesday along with a nearly 65-member delegation and inspected the airport’s modern facilities.
The delegation was welcomed on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government by UP Cabinet Minister Sunil Sharma, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Civil Aviation Department Deepak Kumar, and Invest UP CEO Vijay Kiran Anand. The dignitaries welcomed the Swiss President with traditional angvastram.
A presentation on the airport was made before Guy Parmelin and his delegation in the Avni Board Room, following which the Swiss President addressed the delegation. Guy Parmelin, his wife and selected officials later inspected the airside area and Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, while other members of the delegation visited the terminal, security area, boarding gates, apron and baggage reclaim facilities.
The delegation also participated in a group photograph at the airport amid Indian musical performances. The delegation departed from the airport at around 2 pm after completing its scheduled programme.
Noida International Airport has been developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Switzerland-based Zurich Airport International AG. The visit provided the Swiss President and the delegation an opportunity to review the airport’s passenger facilities and other arrangements.
The delegation included Guy Parmelin’s wife, the Swiss Ambassador, members of the Swiss National Council, state secretaries and representatives from the industry. The visit was also seen as an opportunity to explore growing economic and technical cooperation between India and Switzerland.
The programme was attended by YEIDA CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh, CP Laxmi Singh, DM Medha Roopam, Additional CEO Vandana Tripathi, Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann and Chief Operating Officer Kiran Jain, besides senior officials from the administration, authority and police.
