SVSU to Collaborate with Indiana University of Pennsylvania

The three universities are preparing to jointly launch academic programmes, and work on the proposed collaboration has already begun.

Palwal: Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU) is set to establish a major academic collaboration with Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), USA. The Central University of Himachal Pradesh will also play a significant role in this initiative. The three universities are preparing to jointly launch academic programmes, and work on the proposed collaboration has already begun.

In this regard, a joint meeting of representatives from the three universities was held on Wednesday at Takshashila Bhawan of SVSU. Ms. Michele Petrucci, Associate Vice President, Department of International Education and Global Engagement, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, held an important discussion with SVSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar and Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha from the Central University of Himachal Pradesh regarding possibilities of collaboration in the field of skill education.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar accorded a warm welcome to Ms. Michele Petrucci on her arrival at the University campus and briefed her about SVSU’s dual education model. He stated that SVSU is the country’s first Government Skill University and discussed various dimensions of skill education, including on-the-job training and industry integration.

Ms. Michele Petrucci expressed keen interest in several skill-based programmes, including Management, Engineering, and various short-term courses. She remarked that the three universities could work together towards excellence in education and skill development. She also visited SVSU’s Centres of Excellence and appreciated the world-class laboratories established at the University.

Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh stated that this collaboration among the three universities would emerge as a strong initiative and greatly benefit students. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar further informed that the universities are exploring possibilities of launching joint degree and certificate programmes, and that the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be prepared shortly.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar felicitated both the guests with mementoes. Dean Academics, Prof. Vikram Singh, presented the vote of thanks.
