Chief Minister Rekha Gupta says Delhi’s new logistics policy will boost jobs and investment

Capital prepares major warehousing and freight reforms to reduce congestion and strengthen supply chains

New Delhi, May 13, 2026: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the capital’s upcoming Logistics and Warehousing Policy is in its final stages and is aimed at transforming Delhi into a modern logistics hub while improving industrial growth, employment generation and investment opportunities.

The proposed policy seeks to reduce congestion and pollution by shifting large logistics and warehousing centres to the city’s peripheral regions through the development of Urban Consolidation and Logistics Distribution Centres. These hubs will streamline freight movement and improve distribution efficiency across the National Capital.

According to the Chief Minister, dedicated logistics corridors, truck terminals, parking facilities and upgraded inland container depots will be developed to strengthen infrastructure. Cold storage systems near wholesale markets will also be expanded to improve food supply chains and reduce transport pressure within urban areas.

The policy places strong emphasis on green logistics by encouraging electric vehicles for last mile delivery, promoting low emission freight systems and supporting solar powered warehousing infrastructure.

Digital integration will play a central role, with an advanced logistics interface platform planned for real time cargo tracking, improved freight management and greater operational transparency. Artificial intelligence based route planning and digital freight tools are also expected to improve delivery efficiency and reduce costs.

Industries including e commerce, construction materials, electronics, textiles and food supply chains are expected to benefit directly from the reforms. Officials noted that Delhi’s warehousing demand is already heavily influenced by online commerce, making logistics modernisation critical for future growth.

The policy is also projected to create significant employment across warehousing, logistics parks, transport services and support sectors such as packaging and IT enabled systems. Skill development incentives will be introduced to strengthen workforce readiness.

To attract private investment, the government plans to offer capital subsidies, interest support and reduced electricity charges, while promoting infrastructure growth through public private partnership models.

Officials said simplified approvals, round the clock logistics operations and strategic land allocation under Master Plan Delhi 2041 will further improve ease of doing business and position Delhi as a leading national logistics destination.
