Chandigarh– In a significant breakthrough, Punjab Police have uncovered that a single terror module was behind a series of recent attacks in the state, including the blasts near Shambhu and Sirhind, as well as a grenade attack in Moga.
According to Gaurav Yadav, the revelation emerged following the arrest of a key suspect linked to the Shambhu railway track explosion. Investigations indicate that two operatives—identified as Gurjinder Singh and Jagroop Singh—were responsible for executing multiple attacks across the region.
Police said the duo carried out the Shambhu rail blast on April 27, which was part of a larger conspiracy targeting critical infrastructure. Jagroop Singh reportedly died during the attempted detonation, while Gurjinder Singh was later apprehended in a coordinated operation involving intelligence and district police units.
Further probe and analysis of digital evidence revealed that the same individuals were also involved in the Sirhind railway blast earlier this year, which damaged tracks and disrupted train services, though no casualties were reported.
Authorities have additionally linked the pair to a grenade attack on a Crime Investigation Agency facility in Moga last year, pointing to a pattern of coordinated strikes.
Officials stated that the module is believed to have connections with foreign-based handlers, suggesting cross-border support and planning. Several arrests have already been made in connection with the wider network following the Shambhu incident.
Security agencies are continuing efforts to identify other members and dismantle the remaining structure of the group. Investigations remain ongoing as authorities work to trace funding channels, communication links, and external connections tied to the module.
