Haryana Director General of Prisons Alok Mittal visited Palwal District Jail, motivating inmates towards education, skill development, and rehabilitation for a better future.

Palwal: Director General of Prisons Alok Mittal visited the Palwal District Jail on Friday. He encouraged the inmates to take steps towards reform and assured them of all possible assistance. Director General of Prisons Alok Mittal inspected various barracks in the jail premises and thoroughly examined the inmates’ records. He held detailed discussions with the inmates, meeting them directly. He said that a prison is not merely a place of punishment, but a center for reform and rehabilitation, from where inmates can begin a new life. While reviewing the inmates’ records, he motivated them to strive for improvement. He encouraged the inmates to pursue education so that they can lead a life in the right direction after their release from prison. He also urged them to learn a trade or skill so that they can earn their livelihood through honest work.

He informed them that under the new law, the government provides an opportunity for reform after a first offense. However, the desire for reform must come from within the inmates themselves. The world of crime only leads to ruin. It is essential to break free from the world of crime, while the path of honesty and hard work brings respect and success. Therefore, leaving the path of crime and joining the mainstream of society is the best option.

During the visit, Alok Mittal also inspected the cleanliness, security arrangements, food, medical facilities, and other arrangements at the district jail. He instructed the officials to ensure that all arrangements related to cleanliness, discipline, and the welfare of the inmates are of the highest standard so that the inmates can have a conducive environment for reform. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar Vashisht, Superintendent of Police Varun Singla, District Jail Superintendent Sanjeev Kumar, and other officers were present on the occasion.
