New Delhi, Sept 9, 2025 – In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Delhi Police Special Cell has averted a deadly gang war in the capital region by arresting two sharpshooters of the notorious Tillu Tajpuriya gang. The accused, identified as Deepak Guliya (28) and Sahil alias Lara (24), were apprehended from Sector-36, Rohini. Police recovered two semi-automatic pistols and six live rounds from their possession.
Officials confirmed that the arrests were made on the intervening night of August 19–20, 2025, following a tip-off about the movement of armed gang members. The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspectors Rakesh Kumar and Amit Nara, under the supervision of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh. Their swift action prevented what could have escalated into a violent clash between rival gangs in Delhi-NCR.
The Special Cell has been closely monitoring the ongoing rivalry between the Tillu Tajpuriya gang and the Jitender Gogi gang, a feud that has resulted in numerous murders and retaliatory killings over the years. According to police, intelligence suggested that members of the Tillu gang were planning to target Gogi gang associates, particularly when they were scheduled to appear in court. Acting on this information, the police laid a trap in Rohini and arrested the shooters before the plan could be executed.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that after the murder of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya, his gang is now being controlled by Deepak Pakasmia, who is believed to be operating from abroad. Pakasmia had instructed the arrested shooters to avenge Tillu’s killing by attacking rival gang members. Acting on his orders, Guliya and Sahil were en route to meet other gang associates in Rohini to finalize the attack plan when they were caught.
Police identified Deepak Guliya, a 28-year-old resident of Purkashpur village in Sonipat, Haryana, as the main planner of the operation. Guliya had previously come into contact with gangster Tillu Tajpuriya while in jail and subsequently joined his gang. After Tillu’s death, he was introduced to Pakasmia through Tillu’s brother, Rakesh. Using encrypted communication apps, Pakasmia tasked him with carrying out retaliatory attacks. For this mission, Guliya procured arms, recruited Sahil alias Lara, and was actively attempting to expand the gang’s local network.
His associate, Sahil alias Lara, aged 24, hails from Udeshipur village in Sonipat. Before joining the gang, he worked as a PVC labourer. Drawn by the lure of easy money and influenced by Guliya, he agreed to participate in the planned attack against the Gogi gang. Police stated that Sahil was provided arms and ammunition to support the execution of the mission.
The police also revealed the past criminal records of the accused. Guliya was previously booked in FIR No. 338/19 under Sections 201/302/34 IPC at PS Gannaur, Sonipat (Haryana). Sahil, on the other hand, was involved in FIR No. 510/21 under Section 420 IPC at PS Qila, Panipat (Haryana).
From their possession, the Special Cell recovered two 7.65 mm semi-automatic pistols along with six live cartridges. The seizure not only prevented a planned attack but also disrupted the chain of supply of illegal firearms among organized crime groups in Delhi-NCR.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell, Northern Range), Amit Kaushik, said the arrests highlight the proactive role of the Special Cell in curbing gang violence.
“The timely action of our teams not only prevented a targeted killing but also successfully averted a major gang war in Delhi-NCR,” he stated.
