New Delhi, September 8, 2025 – Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, will lead the Indian delegation to the 28th Universal Postal Congress in Dubai, UAE. India is set to champion innovation, financial inclusion, and global collaboration within the postal sector. A landmark moment of this participation will be the anticipated launch of the UPI–UPU Integration project.

The UPI–UPU Integration project is designed to revolutionize cross-border remittances to India. This joint initiative by the Department of Posts (DoP), NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) will integrate India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with the UPU Interconnection Platform. The integration will create a secure, efficient, and affordable channel for the Indian diaspora to send remittances, benefitting millions of families and driving economic growth.

Highlights for the Congress

  • Ministerial Address: Jyotiraditya M. Scindia will deliver a keynote address, presenting India’s vision for a modern, inclusive, and technology-driven postal ecosystem.

  • UPI–UPU Integration Launch: The official launch of this pioneering project will showcase innovation in cross-border payments and India’s leadership in digital transformation.

  • Engagement with 192 Member Countries: The delegation will share India’s expertise, foster partnerships, and promote innovative postal solutions.

  • Advocacy for a Progressive Agenda: India will emphasize technology adoption, sustainability, and equitable access to postal services.

  • India’s Candidature: India has offered its candidature for the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council of the UPU, aiming to strengthen digital transformation, sustainability, and capacity building in global commerce.
