New Delhi July 27 2024 : The 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, commenced on Saturday. This pivotal meeting is centered on the ambitious goal of transforming India into a developed nation by the year 2047, marking the 100th anniversary of its independence.
The council, which serves as the apex body of NITI Aayog, includes chief ministers of all states, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. As the chairman of NITI Aayog, Prime Minister Modi is leading the discussions aimed at fostering collaborative governance between the Centre and state governments. The focus is on improving the quality of life for both rural and urban populations by enhancing the efficacy of government interventions.
In addition to this, the meeting addresses the recommendations from the 3rd National Conference of Chief Secretaries, held in December last year. These recommendations cover five critical areas: drinking water accessibility and quality, electricity efficiency and reliability, healthcare affordability and quality, education access and quality, and land and property management, including digitization and registration.
A comprehensive vision document is being developed to steer India towards a $30 trillion economy by 2047. In 2023, NITI Aayog was tasked with integrating ten sectoral thematic visions into a unified framework for “Viksit Bharat @2047.” This vision encompasses economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and effective governance.
