J&K CM Omar Abdullah and Amit Shah Meet in Parliament for Talks

New Delhi : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament on February 10, 2025, in New Delhi, marking a significant development in the ongoing dialogue between the two leaders. The meeting, which took place behind closed doors, was described by Mr. Abdullah as a detailed and constructive discussion on a range of key issues that have been central to the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar Abdullah revealed that the talks primarily focused on the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, a matter that has been a point of contention since the region’s special status was revoked in 2019. His first meeting with Shah took place on October 23, 2024, following his return to office, during which the leaders discussed a variety of issues related to governance, security, and the restoration of statehood. The second meeting, held on December 19, 2024, saw further in-depth conversations on the same issues, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by the elected government of Jammu and Kashmir.
