Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Pledges to Eradicate Maoists from Gadchiroli

Mumbai July 18 2024 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has pledged to rid Gadchiroli district of Maoist insurgents, following a major operation that resulted in the death of 12 Naxals in Wandoli village near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. The operation, carried out on Wednesday, has been hailed as a significant blow to the Naxal movement in the region.

In a telephone conversation with senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, Inspector General of Police for the Gadchiroli range, and the Inspector General of the anti-Maoist mission, Shinde expressed his commendation for their efforts. The Chief Minister praised the police for their decisive action and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to eradicating Maoist influence from Gadchiroli.

“Our strategy prioritizes development while firmly opposing violence. We are committed to making Gadchiroli district free from Maoist activities,” Shinde stated.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis also announced a special reward of ₹51 lakh for the jawans who participated in the operation. This gesture recognizes the bravery and dedication of the security personnel involved in the successful mission.

The Maharashtra government’s strong stance on tackling Maoist insurgency underscores its broader policy of promoting peace and development while countering extremist threats.
