New Delhi : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting rainfall in several parts of Delhi NCR on January 22 and 23, with similar conditions expected in other North Indian states including Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. This weather update comes in the wake of two western disturbances that are set to impact the region, bringing rain and snowfall to various parts of northern India.
IMD Scientist Naresh Kumar explained that these western disturbances are likely to bring significant weather changes across the western Himalayas, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next five days. Rainfall and snowfall are expected in these regions due to the disturbances, which will also bring rainfall to parts of Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, and North Rajasthan on January 22 and 23.
While the temperatures are expected to remain within normal ranges, there is a forecast for a cold wave in several parts of northern India during this period. This could lead to lower-than-usual temperatures, particularly in areas impacted by the western disturbances.
Additionally, the IMD has warned of dense and very dense fog in areas such as Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. The fog is expected to persist for the next two to three days, potentially causing disruptions in visibility and travel, especially during the early morning and late evening hours.
For Delhi NCR, the rain is expected to provide some relief from the chilly weather, but the thick fog might cause temporary hindrances in transportation and daily activities. People in affected areas are advised to take precautions, such as reducing speed while driving and staying informed about the weather updates.
As the disturbances move across the region, the IMD is closely monitoring their progress and will continue to provide updated forecasts. Residents of the affected states are urged to prepare for rain, fog, and temperature fluctuations in the coming days
