New Zealand PM to Lead Delegation for Key Talks with PM Modi

New Delhi, Mar 10,2025:  New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is set to embark on a five-day visit to India from March 16-20, leading a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials, business representatives, media personnel, and members of the Indian diaspora in New Zealand.

The visit comes at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and marks Luxon’s first official trip to India in his current role. He will travel to New Delhi and Mumbai before returning to Wellington on March 20, according to an official statement.

During his stay, Prime Minister Luxon is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Modi on March 17 to discuss various dimensions of the India-New Zealand partnership. The two leaders are expected to explore opportunities for collaboration in trade, education, technology, and regional security.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi will host a formal lunch in honor of his New Zealand counterpart. On the same day, Luxon will also have an audience with President Droupadi Murmu.

As part of his official engagements, Prime Minister Luxon will participate in the inaugural session of the 10th Raisina Dialogue 2025 on March 17 in New Delhi, where he will be the Chief Guest and deliver the keynote address. The Raisina Dialogue, India’s premier geopolitical and strategic affairs conference, is expected to provide a platform for Luxon to share New Zealand’s perspectives on global and regional challenges.

After his engagements in New Delhi, the New Zealand Prime Minister will visit Mumbai on March 19-20, where he will meet Indian business leaders, industry representatives, and stakeholders from diverse sectors. His discussions in Mumbai are likely to focus on strengthening economic ties, increasing trade and investment flows, and exploring potential partnerships in areas such as renewable energy, innovation, and technology.

The visit highlights the strong and enduring relationship between India and New Zealand, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to further enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors. The statement emphasized that the trip would also strengthen people-to-people ties, given the significant Indian diaspora in New Zealand and the growing cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.

Luxon’s visit is expected to pave the way for deeper engagement and strategic collaboration between India and New Zealand, reinforcing their shared vision for a more prosperous and interconnected Indo-Pacific region.
