NEW DELHI, 8th March, 2025: PM Narendra Modi’s so-called “Guarantee” has once again proven to be a mere ‘jumla’ (hollow promise). On International Women’s Day, March 8, lakhs of women in Delhi waited for the promised ₹2,500 to be credited to their accounts, but the BJP government failed to deliver. Taking potshots at the BJP, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Delhi Legislative Assembly, Atishi, said on Saturday that instead of fulfilling its promise, the BJP has handed women a four-member committee.
Exposing PM Modi’s false promise to Delhi’s women, senior AAP leader and LoP in Delhi Assembly, Atishi, stated, “Before the Delhi elections, PM Narendra Modi made a grand promise to the women of Delhi. He assured them that on 8th March, International Women’s Day, ₹2,500 would be deposited into every woman’s account. He even advised them to link their bank accounts with their phones, saying they would receive a message confirming the deposit. He called it ‘Modi ki Guarantee’.”She continued, “Today, on 8th March, Delhi’s women waited eagerly, believing in that promise. They kept wondering—when would ₹2,500 be credited? When would the money be deposited? When would the promised message arrive, proving that ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ was fulfilled? But instead, the BJP government in Delhi has exposed the truth—it was never a guarantee, just another ‘jumla’.”
The LoP in the Delhi Assembly asserted that not only did the women of Delhi not receive ₹2,500 in their accounts today, but they didn’t even get a scheme. There wasn’t a registration portal, no place to enter their names, no way to submit their bank or Aadhaar details. The promise wasn’t just broken—it was never meant to be kept.
“What did they get instead? A four-member committee. Is this what PM Modi had pledged—that instead of financial support, Delhi’s women would be handed a committee? The gap between promise and reality couldn’t be starker,” she highlighted.
The Delhi Assembly LoP quoted a Hindi saying—‘Khoda pahad, nikli chuhiya’ (they dug a mountain, only to find a mouse). “That is exactly what has happened today. Women were led to believe they would receive ₹2,500, but all they got was yet another committee. This is the reality of ‘Modi ki Guarantee.’”
Atishi stated that all women received just a hollow assurance—first, a committee would be formed, then it would draft a scheme, then eligibility would be decided, then registration would happen, then women would fill out forms, and after that, only God knows when the ₹2,500 will actually arrive.
“The BJP government in Delhi has made one thing clear today—PM Modi’s so-called ‘guarantee’ was never real; it was just another ‘jumla’. Today, the BJP government in Delhi has proven beyond doubt that PM Modi lied to the women of Delhi. And perhaps, this is just the beginning. Slowly, the people of Delhi will realise that the promises they trusted, the commitments they believed in, and the manifesto they voted for—one by one, all of them will turn out to be lies,” she added.
Concluding, Atishi questioned the BJP on their promises to Delhiites, asking, “How is forming a four-member ministerial committee the same as depositing ₹2,500 into women’s accounts? Is there no difference? Did PM Modi ever promise that on International Women’s Day, he would merely set up a committee? No. He promised that on 8th March, every woman in Delhi would receive ₹2,500 in her account. And today, it has been proven that PM Modi brazenly lied. “PM Modi does not give guarantees—he only gives ‘jumlas’.”
