New Delhi, March 1, 2025: In a significant development, the global humanitarian leader and spiritual master Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, for the first time, will reveal the sacred relics of the original Somnath Jyotirlingam in Delhi, which have been found again after 1000 years.
Mahmud of Ghazni attacked and destroyed the Somnath Temple along with the mystical Jyotirlingam inside in 1026 CE. Heart broken from the devastation, a few Agnihotri Brahmins secretly carried the pieces of the Jyotirlingam with them to Tamil Nadu, moulded them into small Shivalingas and continued to worship them through the generations. These sacred relics eventually came into the care of the family of Agnihotri Brahmin Pandit Sitaram Shastri. “You should yourself take them to Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Bengaluru. He will help you,” Shastriji was instructed by the current Kanchi Shankaracharya.
Now, a wave of devotion and excitement is sweeping through Delhi as people await the arrival of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on 2nd March, who will carry with him these invaluable pieces of India’s spiritual heritage.
Lakhs of people are expected to throng the Janmashtami Park in Punjabi Bagh on 2nd March evening for the grand satsang titled Anandam to bask in wisdom, soulful music and experience the mystical and divine energy of the Somnath Jyotirlingam in the presence of Gurudev. The Jyotirlingas will also be open for everybody’s darshan on 4th and 5th March from 9am to 7pm at Chinmaya Mission, Lodhi Road. The Art of Living invites everybody to be part of this historic event.
