Patna: The Holika Festival Mela, organized by the Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh at Gyan Bhavan, became a platform for spreading awareness about cleanliness through folk songs. The Patna Municipal Corporation’s cleanliness awareness team encouraged people to participate in the Swachhata Survey by scanning a QR code. The event was inaugurated by Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh President Usha Jha, Vice President Kiran Ranjan, and Patna Municipal Corporation’s Swachhata Awareness Campaign Brand Ambassador Dr. Neetu Kumari Navgeet. Speaking at the event, Mayor Sita Sahu emphasized that keeping Patna clean is a shared responsibility. She urged citizens to actively contribute to maintaining cleanliness and take a collective pledge for a cleaner and more beautiful city. Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh President Usha Jha highlighted the importance of cleanliness in daily life. She stressed that just as people maintain hygiene in their homes, they should also work towards keeping their city clean.
She shared that this year, the fair features 200 stalls, including 60 MSME stalls, with participation from women entrepreneurs across Bihar. “Jeevika Didis” (women from self-help groups) have also set up stalls, with support from NABARD, Women Development Corporation, and BIA. Dr. Neetu Kumari Navgeet entertained the audience with traditional folk and Holi songs while promoting the message of cleanliness. She called upon the residents of Patna to participate in the Swachhata Survey, reinforcing the slogans “Swachh Patna, Hum Sab Ka Sapna” (Clean Patna, Our Dream) and “Apna Patna, Swachh Patna” (Our Patna, Clean Patna).
In the programme, singer Rajesh Kesari, famous artist Smita Parashar, Neetu Sinha, Vibha Lal, Kamala Devi, Anshu Mala, Vineeta and many other dignitaries also took a pledge of cleanliness and participated in the cleanliness survey. The stage was conducted by Sadhna Jha while Shweta Bhaskar gave important information to the people present regarding the process of participating in the cleanliness survey using QR code.
