Press ‘Jhaadu’ button for Delhi’s Development: Kejriwal Urges Voters

New Delhi, Jan 20, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday appealed to voters to press the ‘Jhaadu’ (broom) button for ensuring free education, healthcare, water, electricity, and bus travel in Delhi. He warned that choosing any other symbol could result in the discontinuation of these benefits.

Addressing multiple public meetings in Vishwas Nagar, Krishna Nagar, and Gandhi Nagar, Kejriwal emphasized that AAP’s primary focus in the upcoming term would be to create job opportunities for Delhi’s youth and eliminate unemployment.

“Our policies are centered around inclusivity, affordability, and accessibility to essential services and welfare programs,” Kejriwal stated.

He promised various schemes, including a monthly allowance of ₹2,100 for women under the Mahila Samman Yojana, ₹18,000 monthly for pujaris and granthis, and extending free electricity and water benefits to tenants. Additionally, he pledged 50% concessions on Delhi Metro fares for students and continued free bus travel, mirroring the ongoing free services for women.

Criticizing the BJP, Kejriwal alleged that the party’s governance in Delhi, particularly in areas under its jurisdiction like law and order, has led to an increase in gang wars, extortion threats to traders, and declining safety for women.

He urged voters to reject BJP candidates, warning that their victory would hinder Delhi’s development. “If you press the wrong button, even by mistake, Delhi will face 10-hour power cuts,” he cautioned, urging voters to choose the broom symbol.

Comparing the state of electricity in Delhi a decade ago with the current scenario under his government, Kejriwal said, “If you press the lotus button (BJP’s symbol), Delhi’s power supply will become as bad as that in BJP-ruled states.”

Kejriwal further accused the BJP of planning to shut down Mohalla Clinics, which he claimed have provided treatment to five crore people in the last five years. “Whether for a fever, cough, cold, or other ailments, Mohalla Clinics have offered free care, including consultations, medicines, and tests. The BJP’s manifesto openly declares their intent to close these clinics if they come to power,” he said.

Highlighting AAP’s vision, Kejriwal assured voters that his government would replace outdated sewage lines, provide financial support to RWAs for hiring security guards, and tackle unemployment by creating jobs for youth.

“Many educated youth in Delhi remain unemployed. My top priority for the next five years will be job creation to ensure our children have secure livelihoods,” he added.

He also appealed to voters to elect AAP MLAs along with his government, warning against voting for opposition candidates. “If you choose their MLAs, they will spend the next five years obstructing progress and fighting with me,” he asserted.

Calling for a decisive mandate, Kejriwal concluded by urging voters to press the broom button to sustain Delhi’s development and ensure a prosperous future for all its residents.
