Initiated by Dhami’s administration, the committee led by Justice Ranjana Desai was appointed on May 27, 2022, to draft the UCC. It includes provisions standardizing marriage, divorce, and inheritance laws, mandating the registration of live-in relationships, and prohibiting child marriage. The UCC ensures equal rights for women in inheritance and sets minimum marriage ages at 18 for women and 21 for men.
