Lucknow, April 23, 2026: The Northern Region Agriculture Conference will be held on April 24 in Lucknow, bringing together Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and senior representatives from multiple states and Union Territories to discuss the future of agriculture in North India.
The conference aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap for agricultural growth, focusing on farmer welfare, modern farming techniques, and improved market access. It will include participation from agriculture and horticulture ministers of six states and three Union Territories, along with scientists, experts, progressive farmers, startups, and institutional representatives.
The programme will begin with an inaugural address by the Union Agriculture Minister, followed by remarks from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. Officials described the event as a platform linking agriculture with innovation, technology, and new market opportunities.
A series of thematic sessions will be held during the day, covering key areas such as the Kisan Credit Card scheme, agriculture infrastructure development, horticulture expansion, pulses self sufficiency, edible oil missions, and digital farmer registration systems.
States including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh will participate, sharing best practices and policy experiences to strengthen agricultural reforms across the region.
The conference will also address critical issues such as pesticide quality control, fertilizer distribution, and measures to curb black marketing in agricultural inputs.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research will present insights on integrated farming systems aimed at improving sustainability and income for small and marginal farmers.
Officials said the discussions are expected to contribute significantly to shaping agricultural priorities for North India while promoting farmer centric development and technological innovation in the sector.
