Chandigarh: Senior and people-centric IAS officer Jaibir Singh Arya retired on April 30, 2026, after more than three decades of distinguished public service in Haryana’s administrative system. A 2009-batch IAS officer, Jaibir Singh Arya began his career in 1997 through the Haryana Civil Services (Executive), securing fourth position. At the time of retirement, he was serving as Commissioner and Secretary, marking the culmination of a career defined by transparency, efficiency, and dedication to public service. Academically accomplished, he completed his graduation from Kurukshetra University, postgraduation in Public Administration from Panjab University, and an Executive Management Program from Cornell University, USA.

Throughout his career, he held several key positions, including Secretary-cum-CEO of the Haryana Human Rights Commission, Special Secretary/Secretary in the Finance Department, Additional CEO of GMDA, Municipal Commissioner, and MD of Haryana Warehousing Corporation, CONFED, HLRDC, and BC-EWS Welfare Corporation. He also served as Dy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Bhiwani, Jind, and Sonipat. He played a key role in preparing the state budgets for 2024–25 and 2025–26, ensuring coordination across 25 departments, and as Bhiwani DC led an effective COVID-19 response safeguarding over 12 lakh people, while improving the sex ratio, placing the district among the top 20 under Swachh Bharat, and removing encroachments worth over Rs.500 crore. Known as “Aam Aadmi DC” and “Panchayati DC” for his public connect, he also conducted free and fair elections in Meham, served as an international observer in Sri Lanka’s 2015 elections, and organised support for Kargil martyrs’ families in 1999. His work spanned rural and urban development through key schemes, self-help group promotion, solar expansion, and transport initiatives, leaving behind a legacy of transparent, people-centric governance.
