Faridabad: A resident of Nehru Ground, Faridabad, was duped of Rs.2.45 lakh after being tricked into investing in the share market through social media. The complainant informed Cyber Police Station NIT that he had first received a message from a woman on Facebook and was later added to a WhatsApp group. Members of the group convinced him to invest in the share market, following which he transferred a total of Rs.2.45 lakh through multiple transactions.However, he did not receive any returns, prompting him to lodge a complaint. A case was registered under relevant sections of fraud.
Police spokesperson said that acting on the complaint, the Cyber Police team arrested three accused: Shailesh Tiwari (48), a resident of Bhatpur village, Hardoi (UP), presently living in Shivam City, Sector-06, Jankipuram, Lucknow; Huzaifa (27), resident of Kishor Ganj, Lucknow; and Ankit (30), resident of Aliganj, Lucknow. During interrogation, it was revealed that Ankit had obtained a bank account belonging to Riyaz Ahmed and handed it over to Huzaifa, who then passed it to Shailesh. Shailesh further gave the account to another person through Telegram, which was later used for fraudulent transactions.
Investigation also revealed that Ankit is a B.Sc. graduate and works as a home tutor, Huzaifa is employed at a furniture shop, and Shailesh runs an electronics repair shop. All three accused were produced before the court and sent to jail. Earlier, Riyaz Ahmed, the account holder, had already been arrested in connection with the case.
