New Delhi, October 5, 2025 — The spirit of fitness took centre stage across India as Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, led the 43rd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. This special edition was held to mark World Teachers’ Day, and saw simultaneous participation in more than 10,500 locations nationwide.
The Delhi event brought together over 1,000 cyclists, including teachers from across the capital, athletes, youth, and fitness enthusiasts. The atmosphere was vibrant, featuring a nukkad natak dedicated to teachers, yoga sessions, skipping challenges, fitness games, and activity zones for children.
Notable athletes such as Olympic bronze medalist Abhishek Nain, chess Grandmaster Tania Sachdev, rising javelin star Sachin Yadav, and Guinness World Record holder Rohtash Chaudhary, popularly known as “India’s Push-up Man,” also joined the ride, inspiring participants with their presence.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mandaviya described the initiative as a “true people’s movement.”
“Every Sunday, lakhs of citizens are cycling in over 10,500 locations, celebrating the vision of Fit India championed by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. If every citizen dedicates even one hour daily to physical activity, Bharat will move ahead stronger, healthier, and more united towards the dream of Viksit Bharat,” he said.
Highlighting the theme of balance, he added,
“Cycling teaches us that we move forward only when we maintain balance. This balance is the foundation of life — and it comes from fitness.”
Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) in association with the Cycling Federation of India, Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat, the initiative has become one of the largest mass fitness drives in the country. The event in Delhi also witnessed the launch of the official anthem of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, with support from the Raahgiri Foundation and Fitspire. Rope skipping activities were led by Dr. Shikha Gupta.
During the event, Rohtash Chaudhary informed Dr. Mandaviya about his upcoming Guinness World Record attempt — most push-ups in one hour with a 60 lb backpack, scheduled for November 2, 2025, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
Athletes also shared their thoughts. Abhishek Nain reflected on how the initiative has gained momentum:
“As athletes, fitness is our base. What I see here is not just cycling, but a cultural shift towards health and community participation.”
Tania Sachdev, participating for the second time, said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of fitness as a mass movement:
“Seeing teachers, students, and athletes cycle together is heartwarming. It shows how fitness can unite communities.”
Since its launch, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle campaign has grown rapidly, with over 12 lakh participants taking part across 1,00,000+ locations nationwide. Events are held in State and UT capitals, Sports Authority of India centres, National Centres of Excellence, Khelo India Centres, and regional training hubs, making fitness accessible to citizens at every level.
