District Administration Faridabad Announces Blackout Drill for ‘Operation SHIELD’ on May 31, 2025

Faridabad, May 31, 2025 — In an effort to enhance emergency preparedness and public awareness regarding civil defence measures, the District Administration of Faridabad has issued a public advisory for a mock blackout drill under ‘Operation SHIELD’, to be conducted on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

As per the official communication:

  • An Air Raid Warning Siren will sound at 05:00 PM to initiate the drill and simulate emergency alert conditions.

  • A blackout will be strictly observed from 07:55 PM to 08:15 PM, during which all households, businesses, and institutions are requested to comply with safety protocols.

To ensure the effectiveness and discipline of the exercise, the administration has outlined specific Do’s and Don’ts for the public:
         DO’s:

  • Turn off all lights to maintain blackout conditions.

  • Draw curtains to prevent light leakage.

  • Maintain complete silence during the exercise.

  • Cooperate fully with the instructions issued by the District Administration.

    DON’Ts:

  • Do not use mobile phones during the blackout period.

  • Do not light candles or any other alternative light sources.

  • Avoid unnecessary movement inside or outside your premises.

  • Do not step outdoors during the exercise.

This mock drill is being conducted purely as a precautionary training initiative under the supervision of the Civil Defence Department. The public is reminded that there is no real threat and the purpose of this drill is to enhance readiness in the event of actual emergencies.

The District Administration has urged all residents of Faridabad to treat this exercise with seriousness and to ensure full participation for the collective safety and security of the community.

This advisory has been issued in public interest by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad.
