Trump Warns Iran of Bigger Strike After Attack on US Warships

Missiles rain over Strait of Hormuz as US-Iran tensions spiral dangerously close to a wider Gulf conflict

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will respond “a lot harder and more violently” after Iranian forces reportedly targeted three US Navy destroyers as they exited the Strait of Hormuz.

In a social media post, Trump claimed that missiles and drones were launched at the American vessels but were intercepted and destroyed by US defense systems. He said the ships passed safely through the strategic waterway, while Iranian forces suffered “heavy damage” in the exchange. Trump said the US would not tolerate attacks on its military assets and warned Tehran against escalating the situation further.

The US military has reportedly carried out strikes on Iranian military facilities in response.
Washington, however, stated that it does not seek a broader regional conflict and remains committed to protecting its naval forces and commercial shipping routes in the Gulf.

Iranian state media reported explosions and defensive fire activity in parts of western Tehran and near Bandar Abbas in the south. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had responded to US “aggression” against an Iranian oil tanker and another vessel with missile and drone attacks on American ships.

The Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route, has once again become a flashpoint amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran. The fragile ceasefire in place since April 8 now appears increasingly under strain, with diplomatic efforts facing renewed pressure.

Earlier, Trump had also paused a US military plan aimed at securing shipping routes through the strait, while regional ally Saudi Arabia reportedly declined support for any force-based reopening of the passage.
