Anil Kapoor Gets Emotional Remembering Satish Kaushik After Meeting His Lookalike
Actor recalls his close bond with the late star on ‘India Ke Top 1% – The Anil Kapoor Show’
The Impressive TimesActor Anil Kapoor became emotional while remembering his close friend and late actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik after meeting a contestant who resembled him on India Ke Top 1% – The Anil Kapoor Show.
The contestant, Gagan, caught Kapoor’s attention because of his striking resemblance to Kaushik. Gagan also revealed that people often told him he looked like the late actor.
Recalling their friendship, Kapoor said their bond was difficult to explain and described Kaushik as a dear friend whose talent and sense of humour were exceptional. He fondly remembered calling him “Danny DeVito” and shared how the two had dreamed of playing twin brothers on screen, inspired by the film Twins.
Kapoor said Kaushik knew everything about him, from his anger to his happiness, adding that if he could have had a twin brother, it would have been Satish.
The emotional moment turned cheerful when Kapoor and Gagan sang the famous “Mera naam hai Calendar” line from the 1987 film Mr India, in which Kaushik played the beloved character Calendar.
Satish Kaushik, who enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades, was known for films such as Mr India, Ram Lakhan, Saajan Chale Sasural and Deewana Mastana. He also directed films including Tere Naam and Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain. He died on March 9, 2023, aged 66.
