Delhi Police Holds Student Safety Drive in Vasant Vihar, Focuses on Cyber Awareness and Self-Defence

New Delhi, July 29:

As part of its ongoing Child Safety Awareness Month campaign, the Delhi Police organised a comprehensive student outreach programme at Bala Pritam Guru Harkrishan International School in Vasant Vihar, aiming to strengthen awareness about personal safety, cyber security, road discipline, and emergency preparedness among schoolchildren.

The initiative, conducted by the Police Modernisation, Media and Community (PMMC) Unit in collaboration with various specialised wings of the Delhi Police, brought together more than 250 students, teachers, and school staff for a day of interactive learning and practical demonstrations.

The programme commenced with a live performance by the Delhi Police Orchestra, setting an engaging tone for the event. Students were later introduced to self-defence techniques through hands-on demonstrations conducted by officers from the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC). The session focused on building confidence and equipping students with practical skills to respond to unsafe situations.

Road safety formed another key part of the awareness campaign, with Delhi Traffic Police officials explaining the importance of responsible behaviour on roads, traffic regulations, and pedestrian safety. An interactive quiz encouraged students to test their understanding of traffic rules in an engaging manner.

The Delhi Police SWAT team also participated in the event, presenting tactical demonstrations that offered students an insight into the specialised unit’s operational capabilities and its role in responding to emergencies and ensuring public safety.

Recognising the growing risks in the digital space, the Cyber Crime Unit conducted an awareness session highlighting common online threats, safe internet practices, and measures to protect personal information from cyber fraud and online exploitation.

To further spread awareness, a specially equipped Jan Sampark Vahan screened educational films focused on child protection and personal safety, reinforcing key messages through audio-visual content.

The event concluded with sports activities, including tug-of-war and volleyball matches, aimed at promoting teamwork, discipline, and healthy participation among students.

Delhi Police said such awareness programmes are being organised to help young students develop a stronger understanding of safety in both physical and digital environments while encouraging greater community engagement between the police and educational institutions.
