New Delhi, May 25, 2026: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary officially sent off the Indian contingent participating in the Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills 2026 Invitational Tournament, scheduled to be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from May 26 to 28.
The international vocational and technical skills competition will bring together participants from around 15 countries and serve as a preparatory event ahead of the prestigious WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 competition.

The five-member Indian contingent comprises top performers from the IndiaSkills National Competition 2025-26 and selected wildcard entrants. The participants will represent India in the following categories:
Arjun Sumathi Vijayabashkar – Mobile Applications Development
Mohamed Mafaz Poonaikannan Rabi Ahamed – Software Applications Development
Muskan – Painting & Decorating
Md Seraj – Automobile Technology
Suresh Kumar Ganesan Meena – Digital Construction

The competition aims to promote technical excellence, workforce innovation, and international collaboration while providing valuable exposure to global standards.
Addressing Team India before their departure, Jayant Chaudhary urged the participants to represent the country with confidence, discipline, and excellence.
He emphasized that global skill competitions are not only about winning medals but also about gaining experience, building international networks, and learning from global best practices.
The minister highlighted the importance of such platforms in strengthening India’s skilling ecosystem and preparing young professionals for emerging opportunities in the global workforce.
The Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Invitational Tournament is regarded as an important preparatory platform for competitors heading to the 48th WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
Participants will gain practical exposure to international competition standards and refine their technical abilities before competing on the world stage.

The send-off ceremony was attended by Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and Arunkumar Pillai, Chief Executive Officer of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), along with senior ministry officials.
Officials said India’s participation in the competition reflects the country’s growing emphasis on skill development and workforce readiness in line with global industry requirements.
The Taipei event is expected to provide Indian participants with valuable international experience while helping the country strengthen its preparations for future WorldSkills competitions.
The government believes that such initiatives contribute significantly to building a skilled workforce capable of competing globally and supporting India’s long-term economic growth.
