Seven Dead, Several Injured in Multiple Road Accidents Across Uttar Pradesh

Fatal crashes reported from Mainpuri, Muzaffarnagar and Deoria; reckless driving and speeding suspected.

Lucknow– At least seven people lost their lives and three others were injured in separate road accidents reported from different districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday night, police officials said.

In Mainpuri, a tragic collision near Shitala Devi Temple on Devi Road claimed three lives, including a married couple. According to Superintendent of Police Ganesh Saha, a pickup vehicle lost control while attempting to overtake another car and crashed head-on into a motorcycle. The three riders died instantly. The victims were reportedly travelling to attend a relative’s cremation.

In a separate incident in Muzaffarnagar, a 30-year-old woman, identified as Imrana, was killed after being hit by a speeding car in Charthawal area. Another woman sustained injuries in the accident. Police officer Ravishankar said the victims were walking along the road when the vehicle struck them, throwing Imrana into a nearby canal. She was later declared dead at a hospital. The driver fled the scene, triggering protests by local residents demanding immediate action.

Meanwhile, in Deoria, three people died and two others were seriously injured after a car rammed into a tree near Baghochghat area. The accident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Police said the car was badly damaged, and rescue teams had to cut open parts of the vehicle to pull out the victims.

The deceased in the Deoria accident included two individuals from Bihar, while the identity of one victim is yet to be confirmed. The injured have been admitted to a local medical college for treatment.

Authorities said all bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and investigations are underway in each case. Officials have reiterated the need for road safety and responsible driving to prevent such fatal incidents.
