Gurugram- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has busted an illegal medical store in Gurugram’s Jharsa village, recovering a large quantity of narcotic and restricted medicines during a raid conducted on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, officials raided the unlicensed shop in Sector 37 and seized 240 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, 2,250 tablets of tramadol, and 80 medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) kits. Authorities said the medicines were being stored and distributed without any legal permission.
According to officials, the accused—believed to be a resident of nearby areas such as Madan Puri or Sector 7—was operating without a valid drug licence. He was handed over to the police’s anti-narcotics cell along with the seized items. Preliminary questioning revealed that he had allegedly been supplying these drugs for the past 10–12 days.
Investigators suspect the existence of a larger distribution network, with the accused possibly supplying narcotics and restricted medicines directly to consumers or through intermediaries. Officials have launched a detailed probe to trace the source of the drugs and identify other individuals involved.
An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and samples of the seized medicines have been collected under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The premises have been sealed, and further action is underway.
In a separate operation, FDA officials also raided a private clinic in Gandhi Nagar and arrested an individual for allegedly practising medicine without a valid licence for over 18 months. Authorities seized around 36 types of medicines, test reports, and medical equipment from the site.
Officials said strict action will continue against illegal medical practices and unauthorised sale of drugs in the region.
