Washington DC: Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has publicly expressed regret over supporting Donald Trump, saying he feels burdened by his role in helping shape the current political landscape in the United States.
Speaking during a podcast conversation with his brother Buckley Carlson, Tucker said supporters who helped elevate Trump should examine their own responsibility. In remarks that have drawn widespread attention, he apologised for what he described as unintentionally misleading people.
Carlson also suggested he had overlooked warning signs about Trump’s character, saying some concerns that now appear significant were ignored by those who backed him.
The comments come amid increasingly public friction between Carlson and Trump, whose relationship has appeared strained in recent weeks. Trump has previously hit back at Carlson with personal criticism, while Carlson has voiced concern over the direction of the administration.
The remarks mark a notable shift from Carlson, who for years was seen as one of Trump’s most influential media allies. His comments have now triggered fresh debate over whether the apology signals a political rupture or a broader reckoning within sections of conservative media.
