DAV Institutions Working to Connect All Sections of Society to the Mainstream: Dr. Poonam Suri

On Samarpan Diwas, Chairman Says: A Teacher Has the Power to Elevate a Student Beyond the Sky

Faridabad: Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) institutions stand as one of the largest non-government educational networks in the world, with over 1,000 institutions across India and abroad. Addressing students, parents, and educators, Padma Shri awardee and Chairman of the DAV College Managing Committee, Dr. Poonam Suri, emphasized the need to make the current education system more innovative, encouraging students to engage in project-based learning and research.

He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the ‘DAV Samarpan Diwas’ समारोह, organized at the State Sports Complex, Sector-12, Faridabad, on the occasion of the 162nd birth anniversary of renowned educationist, visionary social reformer, and founder principal of DAV institutions, Mahatma Hansraj.

Dr. Suri highlighted that DAV institutions have made a proud contribution for over 140 years in the fields of education, community service, and nation-building. He stated that while education can make a person literate, true education is that which builds character — a mission that DAV institutions have upheld for more than a century.

Referring to the teachings of the Rigveda, Dr. Suri urged students to become like the sun — steady, radiant, and a source of light for all without discrimination. He inspired youth to remain resilient even in difficult times and contribute positively to society. He added that DAV institutions are committed to connecting every section of society to the mainstream with this vision.

Speaking about future plans, he announced that DAV will expand its presence globally, spreading Vedic knowledge across foreign lands and working towards the betterment of humanity by promoting moral values and inner strength.

Dr. Suri also proposed a unique idea for holistic development — evaluating students not only academically but also on qualities like simplicity, humility, discipline, and moral conduct. He encouraged educators to adopt the ideals of Mahatma Hansraj and Prof. Gurudutt Vidyarthi, stressing that teachers possess the power to shape students into extraordinary individuals capable of reaching great heights.

Addressing the gathering, Swami Ritspati Saraswati appreciated the significant role played by DAV institutions in promoting value-based education. He described these institutions as a beacon of holistic education that fosters scientific temperament, strong moral values, and a deep connection with Vedic wisdom.
