The British monarch honoured his “darling mama” in a heartfelt address as the UK marked Queen Elizabeth II’s birth centenary with tributes, memorial plans and royal events.

United Kingdom: Charles III delivered an emotional tribute on Tuesday as Britain marked what would have been the 100th birth anniversary of Elizabeth II, describing his late mother as a lasting source of hope and duty.

In a special recorded message from Balmoral Castle, the King reflected on the late monarch’s legacy and said her belief in goodness prevailing remained relevant during troubled times.

The tribute formed part of wider centenary commemorations across the United Kingdom, including ceremonial events, a reception at Buckingham Palace and the unveiling of plans for a permanent memorial in her honour.

Among the proposals announced was a bronze statue and a digital memorial designed to preserve records, public memories and major milestones from the late Queen’s reign.

Keir Starmer also paid tribute, describing the memorial as a fitting recognition of a monarch whose reign shaped generations.

Separate events also included the opening of a garden dedicated to the late Queen, led by Anne, Princess Royal.

The commemorations underscored the enduring significance of Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy nearly four years after her death, while also highlighting efforts to preserve her memory for future generations
