Consul General D C Manjunath praises community efforts and global engagement of Bihar diaspora

Houston, Texas, April 1, 2026: Members of the Bihar diaspora in the United States came together to celebrate Bihar Diwas 2026 at India House in Houston, with participation from the Consulate General of India and several prominent community organisations.

The event saw collaboration among Bihar Foundation Texas Chapter, BANA, BAANA, and AMBUJ, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening cultural identity and promoting connections in areas of community engagement and economic cooperation. The Consulate played a key role in bringing these groups together on a common platform.

The programme was coordinated under the guidance of officials from the Consulate, including Prashant K Sona and Yasmeen Arya, with active support from community leaders such as Bidhu Prakash, Rekha Tiwari, Santosh Verma, and Parthsarthi Jha. The venue arrangements were facilitated at India House with assistance from Director Vipin Kumar.

Participation from across Texas highlighted the growing engagement of the diaspora, with teams representing both Houston and Dallas contributing to the event’s success. Representatives from various organisations, including BAANA, BANA, AMBUJ, and Bihar Foundation, played important roles in organising and managing the celebration.

Cultural activities formed a central part of the programme, featuring patriotic performances, music, and artistic showcases by youth and children. Traditional crafts from Bihar, including Madhubani art, Sikki craft, and Bhagalpur silk, were also presented, reflecting the region’s rich heritage

Kundan Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar and Chief Executive Officer of Bihar Foundation, appreciated the efforts of the organisers and highlighted the expanding global presence of the foundation through its international chapters. He also spoke about upcoming initiatives aimed at strengthening engagement with non resident Biharis.

Consul General D C Manjunath commended the collective spirit of the diaspora and acknowledged the role of community organisations in promoting Bihar’s identity abroad.

Messages of support were also shared by leaders including Devesh Chandra Thakur, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, and Pratyaya Amrit, recognising the importance of such initiatives in strengthening cultural and economic ties.

The event concluded with a sense of unity and enthusiasm, with the community expressing interest in expanding participation for the next Bihar Diwas celebrations planned in Dallas.
