Punjab Leads Nation in Agriculture Infrastructure Fund with Record Project Approvals and Funding

Chandigarh, March 21: Punjab has secured the top position under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, with a record 32,823 projects approved and financial assistance amounting to ₹7,050 crore disbursed so far.

Officials said the scheme has significantly strengthened agricultural infrastructure across the state, supporting the development of storage facilities, cold chains, processing units, and other critical post-harvest systems.

Several districts in Punjab have emerged as key contributors to this achievement, reflecting widespread participation and effective implementation at the grassroots level. The strong performance is being attributed to proactive state-level coordination, streamlined approval processes, and increased awareness among farmers and agri-entrepreneurs.

Authorities highlighted that the initiative has not only improved supply chain efficiency but also enhanced farmers’ income opportunities by reducing post-harvest losses.

The scheme has encouraged private investment and participation from farmer groups, cooperatives, and startups, helping create a robust agri-infrastructure ecosystem.Officials noted that easy access to credit and interest subvention under the fund has played a crucial role in accelerating project execution across districts.

The success of Punjab under the scheme is also expected to serve as a model for other states aiming to strengthen their agricultural backbone.Experts believe that continued focus on infrastructure development will further boost the state’s agricultural productivity and long-term sustainability.

The government remains committed to expanding the reach of the scheme, ensuring more stakeholders benefit from improved facilities and financial support.
