Delhi Cabinet Clears Free LPG Cylinder Scheme for EWS Women Ahead of Holi

Ahead of Holi, the Delhi Cabinet led by CM Rekha Gupta has cleared a scheme to provide free LPG cylinders to women from EWS families, along with a ₹500 subsidised gas cylinder initiative.

New Delhi: In a significant welfare move, the Delhi government has approved a proposal to provide free LPG cooking gas cylinders to women belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) on the occasion of Holi.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. According to official sources, women from EWS families who hold valid ration cards will be eligible to receive one free gas cylinder during major festivals, including Holi and Diwali.

In addition to the free cylinder benefit, the government is also set to roll out a subsidised LPG scheme under which economically weaker families will be able to purchase cooking gas cylinders at a reduced price of ₹500.

The initiative aims to provide relief to low-income households and ensure access to clean cooking fuel during festive periods. Further guidelines regarding eligibility and implementation are expected to be announced soon.
