North District Conducts Anti-Terror Mock Drills at Vulnerable Locations Ahead of Republic Day 2026

Ahead of Republic Day 2026, North District Police conducted four anti-terror mock drills at Red Fort, ISBT Kashmere Gate, DU Metro and Khari Baoli to assess preparedness and response time.

Delhi , January 15, 2026– In view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations, the North District Police, Delhi, conducted a series of simulated anti-terror mock drill exercises at vulnerable and crowded locations to assess preparedness, coordination, and response time of various stakeholder agencies.

A total of four mock drill exercises were conducted during the first fortnight of January 2026 at highly sensitive locations including historical monuments, transport hubs, markets, and metro stations which witness heavy public footfall on a daily basis.

These exercises aimed to strengthen anti-terror preparedness, improve inter-agency coordination, and sensitize the public to remain alert during emergency situations.

The drills were conducted in areas such as Red Fort, ISBT Kashmere Gate, Delhi University Metro Station, Khari Baoli, Chandni Chowk, and surrounding markets—areas considered sensitive due to high crowd density.

Mock Drill 1: Bomb Blast Simulation at Red Fort

On January 3, 2026, a simulated bomb blast scenario was enacted near Hathi Gate inside Red Fort. A PCR call was received at 2:30 PM reporting injuries due to the blast.

Immediate response was initiated with deployment of CATS ambulances, Delhi Fire Service, DDMA, Special Cell, SWAT teams, Crime Team, Dog Squad, Bomb Disposal Teams, and other agencies.
A command post was set up near Netaji Subhash Marg, access control was established, and the area was cordoned off.

Four injured persons were evacuated to nearby hospitals, while bomb disposal and crime teams examined the site. The operation was supervised by senior officers of North District Police.

Mock Drill 2: Terrorist Attack at Delhi University Metro Station

On January 7, 2026, a simulated terrorist attack was conducted at Delhi University Metro Station Gate No. 4. Three terrorists injured one civilian and held two hostages inside a booth.

Swift action by Special Cell and SWAT teams led to the neutralization of all terrorists. The injured person was rushed to a hospital, and the hostages were rescued safely. Complete access control and evacuation procedures were executed efficiently.

 Mock Drill 3: Armed Terrorist Attack at ISBT Kashmere Gate

On January 10, 2026, terrorists armed with firearms opened fire near Platforms 8 and 9 at ISBT Kashmere Gate, injuring three people and taking two passengers hostage.

The injured were shifted to St. Stephen’s Hospital and Hindu Rao Hospital via CATS ambulances. SWAT commandos successfully neutralized the terrorists and rescued the hostages. Weapons including pistols, an MP-5 rifle, and live ammunition were recovered during the operation.

Mock Drill 4: Bomb Blast Simulation at Khari Baoli

On January 14, 2026, a bomb blast scenario was simulated near Gol Hatti Booth, Khari Baoli, Lahori Gate. Two persons were reported injured.

Police teams, SWAT, PCR, DDMA, BSES, and CATS responded promptly. The injured were shifted to St. Stephen’s Hospital and Trauma Centre, and the area was secured within minutes.

All four mock drill exercises were conducted smoothly and successfully, with timely response from all participating agencies. The drills demonstrated effective coordination, preparedness, and rapid emergency management, reinforcing security arrangements ahead of Republic Day 2026.
