New Delhi : The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on Monday organised a grand Send-Off Ceremony for India’s contingent to the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC) 2025, scheduled to be held from 27–29 November 2025 in Chinese Taipei. This year marks India’s debut at the prestigious continental skills platform, making it a landmark achievement in the nation’s global skilling journey.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE, also attended the ceremony, alongside Gyan Bhushan, Senior Economic Advisor, MSDE, and veteran actor Sudesh Berry, who encouraged the competitors with motivational messages.

Over 500 competitors from nearly 40 Asian countries will participate in the 2025 edition of the championship, competing across 38 skill categories. Representing India are 23 competitors and 21 experts, fielded by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)—the implementation and knowledge partner for WorldSkills India.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shri Jayant Chaudhary said:
“The young competitors participating in WorldSkills Asia embody India’s rising strength as a global skills leader. The Government is committed to empowering talent capable of contributing to our vision of becoming the Skill Capital of the World.”
India’s participants will compete across a wide spectrum of new-age and traditional skill areas, including Digital & IT Technologies, Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics, CNC Milling, Automotive Repair, Fashion Technology, Graphic Design, Beauty Therapy, Web Development, and several others shaping the future workforce.

The competitors were selected through a rigorous and multi-stage process under the IndiaSkills Competition 2024, the country’s largest national-level skills championship organised by NSDC. Winners of the national meet are given the honour of representing India across global WorldSkills platforms.
Emphasizing the significance of India’s debut, MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee said that the country’s participation marks a “major milestone” in its skilling roadmap. She credited sustained government efforts to strengthen training and assessment frameworks for enabling young Indian talent to match global benchmarks.
To prepare the team for the international event, candidates underwent five months of intensive, industry-led training, supported by leading organisations such as JK Cement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mahindra University, LTA Academy of Beauty, Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, and Iraj Evolution Design Company Limited.
These partners provided advanced training labs, simulators, expert guidance, and real-world problem-solving scenarios.
Ahead of departure, WorldSkills India under NSDC also organised a four-day Team Building and Readiness Program (21–24 November), featuring psychometric assessments, communication training, mindfulness therapy, nutrition counselling, art and music sessions, and travel-readiness workshops—equipping the contestants with both technical and mental fortitude.
India’s participation in WSAC 2025 reaffirms the nation’s unwavering commitment to global standards in vocational excellence and complements the broader Skill India Mission, with NSDC playing a pivotal role in training design, expert engagement, and global competitor development.
