New Delhi– Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta  celebrated the festival of Onam with the Malayali community at the ‘Chief Minister’s Seva Sadan’ with much joy and enthusiasm. On this occasion, the Chief Minister not only took part in traditional dance performances but also personally served guests authentic Onam delicacies, offering them a warm sense of belonging.

In her address, the Chief Minister extended a heartfelt welcome to the Malayali community and all guests, saying: “I convey my warmest greetings and best wishes to all of you on this auspicious festival of Onam. It is a matter of pride and honour for me that you have all gathered today in my home, this ‘Jan Seva Sadan’, and begun the festivities from here.”

The Chief Minister said that Onam is not merely a festival of harvest and prosperity, but a celebration of brotherhood, unity, and shared happiness. She noted that nearly one million Malayali families reside in Delhi, and they have not only preserved their rich cultural traditions but also enriched the city with their heritage.

She further added that today Onam is no longer just a festival of Kerala; thanks to the Malayali community spread across India and the world, it has become a global celebration. This community, she said, holds a special place in the country for its hard work, honesty, spirit of cooperation, and patriotism. She emphasised that the Delhi Government accords equal respect to every community, and that the Malayali community has strengthened Delhi with its diversity, dedication, and spirit of service.

The Chief Minister urged “Let us all draw inspiration from this festival and make Delhi into a true family, where every religion, every community, and every tradition is accorded equal respect, and where we all work together to take Delhi forward.” Conveying her greetings to all Malayali families and citizens, she said that over the next ten days, Delhi will remain immersed in the spirit and joy of the festival. She also appealed to all sections of society to work collectively towards making Delhi clean, beautiful, and prosperous.
