Indian Railways Marks 79th Independence Day with Enthusiastic ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Celebrations

Mass participation by railway staff, tricolour adorns stations, bridges, and offices nationwide

New Delhi– On the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, the Indian Railways embraced the spirit of patriotism by joining the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. A special event was held at Rail Bhawan, where Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board Satish Kumar, along with Railway Board Members, the Secretary of the Railway Board, and other officers and staff, participated in the celebrations carrying the National Flag. Flags were distributed to railway employees as part of the campaign.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement encourages citizens to bring the national flag into their homes as a gesture of personal pride and a symbol of unity. By moving beyond formal, institutional displays, the initiative aims to create a deeper emotional connection with the Tiranga and strengthen the sense of collective responsibility towards nation-building.

Across the country, railway stations, office buildings, and residential colonies have been decorated with the tricolour and illuminated in patriotic lighting. Iconic railway bridges are now adorned with the National Flag, creating striking visual tributes. To further boost the festive spirit, programmes such as Tiranga Yatras and quiz competitions were organised, drawing enthusiastic participation from railway staff and their families.
