Bihar – As part of the ongoing voter list revision under the Special Summary Revision (SIR) 2025, the Election Commission has received a massive 1,60,813 claims and objections from national and state political parties regarding the draft electoral roll in Bihar. However, as per official data, none of these have been disposed of yet, pending the mandatory 7-day waiting period.
The data was released as part of the EC’s Daily Bulletin (August 1, 3 PM to August 6, 9 AM) under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative.
Among the national parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted the highest number of entries — 53,338 — followed by the Indian National Congress (17,549) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (74). Smaller entries were filed by AAP (1), CPI(M) (899), and the National People’s Party (7).
From the state-level political spectrum, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) submitted 47,506 claims, followed closely by Janata Dal (United) with 36,550, and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation with 1,496.

In addition to party submissions, 3,659 claims and objections were filed directly by individual electors, primarily related to the inclusion of eligible voters and removal of ineligible entries.

The Election Commission clarified that all claims and objections will be processed only after a mandatory 7-day waiting period, in line with established rules. Furthermore, no name can be deleted from the draft electoral roll published on August 1, 2025, unless a speaking order is issued by the concerned ERO/AERO following an enquiry and ensuring fair hearing to the concerned person.
