Faridabad, 17 Feb 2024– DC Vikram Singh announced the distinguished participation of Haryana’s Governor, Bandaru Dattatreya, as the chief guest at the closure of the Surajkund International Crafts Fair, scheduled for Sunday, February 18. Commencing on February 2, this extraordinary event has been a vibrant canvas, showcasing the artistic prowess of craftsmen from across India and the globe, alongside the kaleidoscopic array of cultural expressions by domestic and international artists. This year’s edition of the Surajkund International Crafts Fair has witnessed an unprecedented convergence of artisans, both local and international, underscoring its stature as a beacon of cultural celebration. From its modest origins in 1987, the fair has evolved into a global phenomenon, facilitated by the joint efforts of the Surajkund Mela Authority, Haryana Tourism Corporation, and collaboration with various governmental ministries. In 2013, the Surajkund Crafts Mela achieved a historic milestone by ascending to international acclaim, attracting participation from over 50 countries. This year’s fair showcases Tanzania as the partner country and Gujarat as the theme state, highlighting the diversity and unity within the global artistic community. The Surajkund Crafts Mela offers an immersive experience across 43.5 acres of exquisitely crafted landscapes, adorned with over 1000 artisan huts and a culinary extravaganza at the multi-cuisine food court. Drawing tourists from far and wide, the fairgrounds have become a melting pot of cultural exchange and artistic appreciation. To ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees, stringent security measures have been implemented, including the deployment of over 300 CCTV cameras with night vision capabilities. Additionally, a dedicated team of security personnel, including female guards, has been stationed throughout the premises to avert any untoward incidents, providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.
