Tragic Road Accident in Agra: 4 Dead, 18 Injured as Bus Collides with Truck

Agra : A tragic accident occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Fatehabad area of Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, when a double-decker bus carrying devotees rammed into a stationary truck, resulting in four fatalities and injuries to approximately 18 others.

According to police sources, the incident took place early Saturday morning as the bus, filled with devotees, was returning to Jaipur after visiting Kashi via Ayodhya following the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Near Lohia Ujhawali cut, the bus collided with a parked truck on the expressway. The impact of the crash was severe, leading to casualties and entrapment of several passengers inside the vehicle.

Local residents immediately sprang into action, breaking the glass windows of the bus to rescue those trapped inside. The police and a team from the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPIDA) promptly reached the accident site to assist in the rescue operations. The injured were initially taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), but due to the lack of available doctors, they had to be transferred to nearby private hospitals for medical treatment.

Authorities reported that the four deceased individuals were seated in the front row of the bus, which bore the brunt of the collision. Meanwhile, over a dozen others sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by the bus driver dozing off while driving, leading to the fatal crash.

The police have initiated an inquiry into the incident and are working to ensure that all injured passengers receive necessary medical attention. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and authorities are in contact with their families to facilitate necessary arrangements.

This tragic accident highlights the importance of road safety measures and the dangers of driver fatigue, particularly on long-distance routes.
