Faridabad, January 19 (Dhamija): In the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections, Ravinder Singh Rana, supported by former minister Seema Trikha, emerged victorious from Ward No. 40, Faridabad. Voting in Faridabad was peaceful on Sunday for the SGPC Haryana elections. After the vote count, the returning officer, Gauri Midhda, handed over the certificate of victory to Ravinder Singh Rana. He defeated his closest rival, Sardar Sukhdev Singh, by 88 votes.
Many prominent politicians in the city showed interest in these elections. Almost all MLAs, ministers, former ministers, and former MLAs played a role behind the scenes. Some supported certain candidates, while others supported others. While most politicians refrained from openly taking sides, behind the scenes, all were backing one candidate or another, working to defeat opposing candidates. In this crucial election, former minister Seema Trikha succeeded in ensuring the victory of her supported candidate. After the victory, Seema Trikha and Advocate Ashwani Trikha, along with their supporters, visited the Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in NIT-5 to offer prayers and express gratitude. There, hundreds from the Sikh community congratulated Ravinder Singh Rana.
In the election, Ravinder Singh Rana received 1885 votes, Sukhdev Singh 1797, Ranjot Singh Sunny 1312, Mohan Singh 1019, Surjit Singh Banga 125, and Kehar Singh 26 votes. According to the election results issued by Returning Officer Gauri Midhda, a total of 6192 votes were cast, with 28 votes for NOTA. The elections were conducted using EVM machines.
According to the administration, the elections were conducted peacefully. Nine polling stations were set up in Ward No. 40, Faridabad, and one polling station each in Palwal and Nuh. A total of six candidates contested in this election.
After his victory, Ravinder Singh Rana thanked the entire Sikh community and said that he would fulfill the promises made to the voters. He assured that every effort would be made to maintain brotherhood within the Sikh society.
