A protesting UPSC aspirant declared that the students would persist in their protest. ‘They have falsely promised us to disperse us from this protest area. I even visited the MCD office where they pressured me to end the protest. I raised corruption issues and made it clear that our demonstration would continue until our demands are met,’ the student told .
Another protester criticized the administration for lack of action at the ground level. ‘They’re telling us to end the protest with vague promises, but the situation remains unchanged even after four days. The fear of future casualties looms large. We’re determined to keep protesting,’ he stated.
A third UPSC aspirant urged government intervention. ‘We’ve been protesting for four days without any response. The administration has no solution for us. For over a decade, UPSC aspirants have faced problems like broker and landlord harassment. The infrastructure in old Rajendra Nagar is inadequate. The government should address our concerns immediately,’ he stressed.
On Wednesday, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Ashwani Kumar met with a delegation of UPSC aspirants at the agency headquarters. A total of 28 students presented their suggestions to the Commissioner, who assured them of proper redressal of their grievances.
In response to the incident, the Delhi Police arrested the owner and coordinator of the coaching center on charges of culpable homicide, among other allegations. Disciplinary measures were also initiated by the MCD against officials of Karol Bagh Zone. So far, seven people, including an SUV driver, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

In the meantime, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notices to the Delhi Chief Secretary, the Police Commissioner, and the MCD Commissioner, demanding a detailed report within two weeks. The NHRC has also mandated a survey to identify and take action against coaching institutes operating in violation of norms in the national capital.
