Kolkata, 21 Nov, 23– In a historic moment, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the L&T Skill Training Hub in Pahadpur, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, her hometown. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Meena Subrahmanyan, President of Prayas Trust, along with senior officials from L&T and SLS Trust.
L&T, in collaboration with SLS Trust, successfully established the Skill Training Hub in just five months, covering a five-acre land parcel. The facility aims to empower underprivileged youth in the region with construction skills, fostering self-reliance. Itishree Murmu, President of SLS Trust, played a pivotal role in creating opportunities for marginalized sections of society.
Meena Subramanyan, President of Prayas Trust, highlighted the significance of the training center, stating, “This training center will enable candidates to fully focus on learning and developing their skills in an enabling environment with a strong focus on life skills and personality development.”
The project, including operations and maintenance, opens up significant opportunities for tribal youth in the area, connecting them with prospects beyond their immediate surroundings.
Mabel Abraham, Joint General Manager – Corporate Social Initiatives, L&T, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering underprivileged youth, saying, “Transforming dreams into opportunities, L&T is dedicated to making a lasting impact by equipping underprivileged youth with valuable skills. Our commitment to empower these young individuals is a testament to our vision for a more promising and inclusive society.”
The Skill Training Hub boasts contemporary infrastructure, including an administrative-cum-institute building, multipurpose hall, e-learning hall, digital training room, separate hostels for boys and girls (each accommodating 120 individuals), dining facilities, practice yards for various trades, and a dedicated workshop for learning pipe welding. State-of-the-art simulators with AR/VR technology enhance the learning experience at the training center.
