According to the Delhi Government, the ‘Metro Monday’ campaign is designed to encourage government officials, employees, and citizens to opt for public transport at least once a week. The initiative seeks to highlight the benefits of using the city’s extensive Metro network and bus services, which offer an efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to private vehicles.

Officials said that increased use of public transport can significantly reduce fuel consumption, lower carbon emissions, and help improve air quality in the capital. The campaign also aligns with national efforts to promote sustainable mobility and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

During her travel, the Chief Minister appealed to Delhi residents to actively participate in the initiative and make conscious choices that support environmental conservation. She stressed that even small steps taken by individuals can collectively create a substantial positive impact on society and the environment.

The Delhi Government believes that widespread adoption of public transportation will not only contribute to fuel savings but also help reduce road congestion, making daily commuting more convenient for citizens. The administration has reiterated its commitment to strengthening public transport infrastructure and promoting eco-friendly mobility solutions across the city.

The ‘Metro Monday’ initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to foster awareness about sustainable transportation and encourage citizens to play an active role in building a cleaner, greener, and developed India for future generations.
