New Delhi, May 25, 2026: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari conducted a comprehensive review of National Highway projects in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, focusing on project quality, maintenance standards, and monsoon preparedness. The review was based on feedback and inputs received through media and public platforms.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, senior officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and project contractors.

Review of Highway Projects Across Two States
During the review, Gadkari assessed the quality and maintenance status of National Highways covering 10,064 kilometres in Rajasthan and evaluated ongoing maintenance and construction work on 1,947 kilometres of National Highways in Himachal Pradesh.
The minister emphasized the importance of timely project completion and strict adherence to prescribed quality standards to ensure long-lasting and efficient road infrastructure.

Focus on Modern Technology and Sustainable Infrastructure
Gadkari directed officials and contractors to adopt advanced technologies and modern construction practices in highway development projects. He stressed that sustainable and durable infrastructure is essential for improving connectivity, boosting economic activity, and enhancing commuter convenience.
According to the minister, a robust highway network plays a key role in supporting seamless transportation and strengthening regional and national economic growth.
Monsoon Preparedness a Key Priority
With the monsoon season approaching, Gadkari instructed officials to implement comprehensive preparedness measures to minimize disruptions and improve road safety.
