The Impressive TimesThe Supreme Court has granted bail to Ashish Mishra, son of former Union Minister Ajay Mishra, in connection with the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, which led to the deaths of eight people. The Court has restricted Mishra’s movement to Delhi or Lucknow. Additionally, the Supreme Court has directed the trial court to expedite the hearing and set a schedule for the proceedings.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan also granted bail to the farmers involved in the case and instructed the trial court to accelerate its proceedings. Previously, the Court had granted Mishra interim bail on January 25 of the previous year.
