Man held for impersonating as CBI official

New Delhi, 03 November: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a conman impersonating himself as CBI official for allegedly accepting bribe from the Complainant, the Central probe agency said. A case was registered on the basis of the complaint against a person, identified as Sadiq Qureshi, impersonating himself as official of CBI in Nagpur and unknown others, CBI said in a statement. It was alleged that the accused impersonating himself as PA to DIG, CBI, approached a Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Central Railway, Nagpur and claimed that there are some complaints pending against him in CBI and of which, he (conman) can take care of. It was further alleged the accused demanded undue advantage from the Complainant for showing favour to him. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting alleged part payment of bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the Complainant, it said. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused, which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
